Calligraphy 14 October 2009 10-4pm cost £45 includes lunch tutor Deborah Morton
Students will be introduced to a selection of calligraphic materials and equipment to demonstrate what is available and what they may find useful to buy. Using very basic double pencils they will then be introduced to ruling up a worksheet for a Foundation script, the traditional beginners hand. We will then move on to using a broad-edged nib and ink. Students will be shown how to set up the nib and reservoir and obtain a good and constant flow of ink. Students should bring a favourite short quotation or two for practising the letterforms. If time permits, students can introduce colour into their quotation. Towards the end of the day, we will incorporate the quotation into a simple zig-zag book. Material list here. Poster here.
