£43.75 for 5 weeks

A workshop, held fortnightly, intended to teach and inspire. For beginners and advanced, these classes will use a variety of ideas to set you writing. We will focus on the short story and script writing, this is an opportunity to find and develop your individual style of self-expression in a supportive atmosphere.

Here's an example to inspire you:

I spat him out! He catapulted back in! There were more, their limbs and hair splaying in the currents, all holding onto each other. I threw up my head to shake them off, lifting them out of the water into a wide arc, before they fell across my back, like a belt! The sea teamed with debris; I could feel them dragging it up and along my flanks. Minutes before, the ocean had erupted, tossing me out, sucking me back. Out, back, out and back! Now I floated in the deeply stirred water, eddying into the night, my mind racing!

At first light, the sea had settled, and with my cargo, I headed for calm waters. I felt their urgency as they dug in, hammering and pummelling from my head to my tail. Such mystery! Such industry, day after day! But they didn’t forget me: a continuous stream of fish was funnelled straight to my mouth. And in new waters, as the seasons changed, I sensed new rhythms. Sometimes, I could swear they were dancing!

I skirted an island. It blinked! A fish, like me, lay low in the water, weighted and heavy. I scanned her horizons, and she mine, our eyes meeting in astonishment! We heard them called across to each other, unintelligible, but for one word. Tsunami. They cried, sorrow dissipating into silence until, very softly, they began to sing. And as their music grew stronger, sweeter, became celebratory, to keep from swaying, we drew in, drew close.
